The film to the settings of other car commercials, as well as the implications with the fast speech and imagination which leads into reality then creates a personal connection of what it means to own a car which is needed for everyday life (Sutherland, 1). Film Techniques The techniques which are used through the film continue with adding in the persuasion of the commercial. The beginning only has the voice overs and a black scene, which then moves into I have a great idea for the Camero commercial followed by seeing the desert and a car in the distance. This landscape shot is followed by moving close in to the car but not distinguishing the features, which is then followed by the voice overs saying bam Its super fast. These two firs t shots build the curiosity of the consumer and grab the attention of those who are watching the commercial. The curiosity and attachment to the film continues to build with a immediate clip which changes into another close up of showing the car swerving through mirrors. The camera angle uses a slant instead of a substantial shot to show that there is a sense of not carrying a sense of reality. This

It is also planning to expand its products and services offerings with the addition of coffee & tea, a fish counter, and a deli, as well as more than aggressively market its catering services. In order to target high-end bailiwicks in other cities, Kudler plans to launch an internet website that ordain eventually have e-commerce capabilities.Several issues have been identified in Kudlers current operations that need to be addressed before it can successfully discover its future goals. Currently, it deals mainly in perishable goods which require extremely accurate forecasting of inventories so as not to incur losses. Kudler employs some relatively highly paid specialty personnel such as the butcher, the baker and the wine steward, and finding qualified people for a new st ore or to deputise those who leave is difficult, especially so, since Kudlers pay is a bit below average. Kathy Kudler and her small management team may not be able to handle extra stores in farther locations, if their management approach is not adjusted to this situation, which limits their plans for expansion. The Del Mar location is not doing too well and needs to be addressed. Another foodie shop opening within Kudlers current market areas would definitely pose a threat. And since, Kudlers gourmet products are pricey, an economic decline in its geographic area would definitely hurt Kudler. Problem/OpportunityTaking economic decline as the issue in question, this problem can only be resolved by preparing for such an eventuality. According to Joseph Ellis (2005), a Goldman Sachs partner, economic cycles or periods of advancing and slowing are the rule and there are 4 stages of economic downswing the peak, a modest slowing, intensifying worrying, and the advent of recession. Actions to hedge the disadvantageous effects of an economic decline can present opportunities. Kudler needs to carefully choose locations where it will punctuate up additional stores, like identifying high-growth areas where profitable business operations could be better forecasted. These new locations may be in geographically dispersed areas, indeed the need to take a new management approach for managing more widely dispersed operations needs to be considered. The introduction and aggressive trade of new products and services (such as online selling and catering) in its stores not only enhances Kudlers business viability but will also increase customers patronage of Kudler as it expands into more stores. In the event of an economic decline in a certain geographic location, Kudler would be able to handle its negative effe cts because of the increased issuing of profitable stores operating, while actions are being undertaken to relocate a distressed store. He does this job because no one else was prepared to do it, and because he is old and he needs money and somewhere to live. Candy will be doing this job until he cannot work no more due to his age, which will be very shortly.Candy had a dog. The dog was old, smelly and on its way to the grave. The dog had no teething so it could not eat and was very much like Candy. The dog was shot and Candy feels this will happen to him when he cannot work anymore.Geor ge has a locomotion companion called Lennie, George and Lennies fantasy is to own a ranch. Candy says poor bastard because he feels sorry for her.Candys future now has been ruined because he is too old to work at the ranch and he will soon be sacked and will probably die a homeless man.Candy was put in the story to add a bit of signifier among the characters.CrooksCrooks is another lonely person in the story. He is a unilateral man living in a racist society and he is also disabled. His job is a Stable Buck, this is someone who looks after the horses and cleans out the stables.Crooks is treated very badly by the other ranch hands because he is coloured and the ranch hands are white. He is not allowed to go into the bunk house and he is not allowed to join in activities they do. They also make him eternal rest in the stable with the horses. Crooks has a very bad life in the story because he average sash in the stable and does not get to socialise with the other ranch hands. His way is simply a small area in the stables with all his possession over the floor in his room unlike the ranch hands who have small boxes over their beds for their possessions. Crooks has man y possessions such as magazines, a hairbrush, a flannel, soap and other small private items. This shows that he is a very clean man and he taught himself how to read and write. When Lennie enters into Crooks room he acts very violently at first. Crooks says, you got no right to manage in my room. This heres my room. Nobody got any right in here but me, later in the conversation Crooks starts confusing Lennie by saying things like spose George dont pose back no more. Spose he took a powder and just aint coming back. Whatll you do then. This starts to upset Lennie. Crooks tells Lennie about his childhood. His childhood was remembered as him playing with white children when there was no racialism in America, but his dad hated him playing with white children because in the end the white children would grow up hating black people.Crooks only has one dream in life and this is to live in a non-racist society, like when he was a child playing with the white children. When Lennie tells Cro oks about his dream about the ranch, Crooks says your nuts. I see hundreds of men come by on the road and on the ranch with their bindles on their backs and that same damn thing in their heads. Nobody never gets to heaven and nobody never gets no land, its just in their head. When Curleys wife entered Crooks room he reacted in a very angry way because he did not like her. She always insulted them and Crooks had had enough of this, he says, I had enough. You got no right coming in a coloured mans room. stock-still after saying this Curleys wife threatened him, then Crooks just backed away and went silent. Now he has no future because he will just be living in a racist society, scared and lonely.I think Crooks was put in this novel to add a glimpse of racism in society.Curleys WifeCurleys wife is one of the loneliest people in this story. She wears long dresses, has long blonde hair, would always have her fingernails painted and would always eye up the ranch hands. This shows us that she is a slut. She does not have a name in this story because she does not have any independence and she is owned by Curley.Curleys wife is lonely because she has no one to talk to because Curley is always too busy, he has no time for her, every week he goes to the whorehouse, she does not whap him and he does not love her. Curley treats her very badly he has no respect for her. Her life on the ranch is very bad because she just stays at the ranch with no one to talk to.Most of the time she goes around the ranch looking for Curley but she is not really looking for him she just wants to chat to people. She had no respect from anyone, just like all women in the 1930s. The only reason she married Curley was to get away from her momma because her mum did not let her do her own thing. Curleys wifes dream was to get away from the ranch and be in the pictures or theatre. She once had the chance to do this but her mum stopped her going. In the end loneliness kills Curleys wife because as s he had no one to talk to so she decided to talk to Lennie and this is what caused her death.I think Curleys wife was put in this novel to add a woman in the story as she was the only one in the story. The American DreamThe American Dream meant a better life for George, Lennie and Candy because they would live on their own ranch and not have anything to worry about. The dream would also mean companionship for Candy because he would not be lonely anymore because he would have George and Lennie to be with. In the end no ones dreams come accredited because loneliness ruins their lives. Loneliness kills Curleys wife, it gives Candy no future or security and for Crooks it gives him no hope because he will always be living in a racist society.

Understanding HealthCare Essay Example for Free

Understanding Health carry on Essayinfirmarys and other wellness armorial bearing institutions, whether voluntary or for-profit, need to be monetaryly solvent to survive growing market pressures. In what ways has this bottom line focus changed the nature of the US health care governing body? The establishment of health services now depends almost entirely on its profitability. The predominant view of corporate-minded politicians at federal, state and municipal levels is that government does not cash in ones chips in the health care business and should divest itself of its health care assets. To save themselves the hospitals must cut be, merge in order to realize greater economies and capture markets and generally begin to function similar to other competitive business entities. The hospital, the final holdout in the total commodification of health care, must now drastically rewrite its traditional mission statement if it is to survive. If present tendencies continue, two de velopments are likely to occur.First, the hospital will become a thoroughgoing creature of the marketplace. The financial bottom line will displace the clinical base line, wherever it not already done so. Hospital mergers downsizing and shrinkages are likely to accelerate. Hospital staff will continue to be replaced by machines wherever it is economically and technically feasible. The ideal patient will be one whos got wads of insurance coverage, but isnt particularly sick. Second, those without insurance coverage will receive less medical care. As private hospitals tighten admissions policies to maximize reimbursements, the measly and uninsured will be caught in a double bind. The cash-strapped public ashes will close its clinics or restrict access, cut back on services, and be generally less capable of providing quality care. Discussion Week TwoAlthough your textbook states that ambulatory care is the predominant mode of health care delivery in the United States (p. 121), the C DCs National Center for Health Statistics National Health Care Survey revealed a 32% increase in the digit of speck room visits between 1996 and 2006. What factors do you believe contribute to the increase in emergency room visits and what is the impact on health care costs? Support your answer. What good is having health insurance if you cant find a doctor to see you ? TheMassachusetts Medical Society reported that the ordinary wait time for a new patient looking for a primary care doctor ranged from 36 to 50 days, with almost half of inherent medicine physicians closing their doors entirely too new patients. And when you consider that Massachusetts already has the highest concentration of doctors nationwide, wait times will likely be worsened in other, less physician-abundant parts of the country, should universal coverage be enacted federally. When patients are forced to wait weeks to obtain medical care, they inevitably find their way into the emergency department for treatme nt that ordinarily can be handled in a doctors office. According to a report from the Division of Health Care Finance and Policy, expanded coverage may have contributed to the rise in emergency room visits, as newly insured residents entered the health care system and could not find a primary care doctor or get a last-minute appointment with their physician. David Morales, commissioner of the division, said several national and statewide studies have shown that expanding insurance coverage does not reduce emergency room visits. Im on record with supporting health reform, and expanding coverage. I manifestly dont think its acceptable to have tens of millions of Americans without health insurance. But we have to be cognizant of the unintended consequences if primary care continues its opprobrious decline. It will take significantly more than whats included in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act to convince medical students to go into the field, and prevent current primary care doctors from leaving. And to those who say physician assistants and nurse practitioners are the answer, theyre not. First, theres simply not enough of them to touch on the demand, and second, the lucrative allure of specialty practice is also drawing mid-levels away from primary care. Unless drastic measures are taken soon, the emergency room will sure as shooting be the next domino to fall as more than 30 million newly insured patients are set to further strain our health system. Discussion Week ThreeGiven the increasing longevity of Americans and the costs of providing long-term care, anticipation of the costs should be a major element of both familys financial planning. Current information suggests however, that very few families or individuals give this consideration. What factors might impede this advance planning? What measures might be good in raisingawareness among the Americans about this important matter?
